An accomplished Opera Singer, La Strada owner and award-winning designer Wendy Garfield decided to pursue her passion for interior design. With her knowledge of music, Wendy takes those skills and applies them to design. “There isn’t much difference between singing Opera and designing a room,” says Wendy. “In Opera, we work with color the same way we do in design. We strive for beauty and perfection in very much the same way we strive for these things when designing a space. The composer tells us how to interpret a piece…in design, the composer becomes you, my client. My job is to interpret your needs and to create beautiful spaces that seem effortless to implement.”

Wendy’s talent has been recognized by leading home magazines throughout Long Island. But her clients’ reactions are what matter most. “When finishing a project, I only need to hear two things from my clients to know that I have done my job,” says Wendy. These two things, which she is pleased to say she often hears, are “I love my house” and “My house is me.”
